It’s not a date in conventional meaning. I wasn’t dating some pretty Swiss girl – my girlfriend wouldn’t be so pleased by it, but it was my first day in my new job. I rather personally checked where is the exact location of the entrance to my new company, because there was no name of my company on Street View. My coordinates were correct, each company has there only small label next to the main entrance. The main entrance looks majestically and the whole building is situated in the city center, next to a park.
When I came to the right floor, we set up several formal issues and then we walked around the company. I was introduced to everyone present and practically instantly forgot their names :-). I didn’t meet everyone employed, as many of them works directly on client’s side. I also got desk with a computer and beautiful flower; unfortunately I have no vase at home, so I left it at work to get it nicer there.
Everything on the computer was in German language including physical keyboard. It took some time to switch it to English, especially there was necessary to install language pack on Office. But, there was no problem, except that system is writing something else than is written on keyboard’s keys – I’m used to use English US keyboard layout even in the Czech Republic.
I also had to sign discretion about my work, so I can’t speak about my real job assignment and I have to forget everything I learn about their customers. Working environment is calm, bright and colleagues nice. We have collective lunch on daily basis and sometimes we even eat our lunch in the park, typically on Fridays.
